Sponsored by the Federal Commission of Scholarships (FCS) in collaboration with the Swiss government, this scholarship is open to candidates from over 180 countries. It is available for postgraduate researchers, including those in medical fields, who are aiming to conduct research or pursue further studies at Swiss universities and research institutions.

Types of Swiss Government Scholarships:

  1. Research Scholarships: For postgraduates holding a master’s degree, aiming to conduct research or further studies at doctoral or post-doctoral levels in Switzerland.
  2. Art Scholarships: For students pursuing an initial master’s degree in art at Swiss conservatories or universities of the arts. Limited to students from specific countries.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Proficiency in English
  • Open to all countries
  • Master’s degree or equivalent achieved by July 31, 2024
  • Applicants must be born after December 31, 1989
  • Must not have been in Switzerland for more than one year prior to the scholarship start date
  • Must provide a letter from an academic host professor in Switzerland
  • Must submit a detailed research proposal
  • Previous scholarship recipients are ineligible for reapplication

Application Process:

  1. Prepare Required Documents:
    • Signed FCS application form
    • Detailed CV and list of publications
    • Motivation letter (max. 2 pages)
    • Research proposal (max. 5 pages, signed)
    • Letter from academic host professor
    • CV of academic mentor at the home institution
    • Two confidential letters of recommendation
    • Copies of certificates and transcripts with certified translations
    • Signed medical certificate
    • Two copies of the applicant’s passport
  2. Submit Application:
    • Obtain the application package from the Swiss representation in your country
    • Submit 2 sets of application documents: 1 original set and 1 copy, in the exact order
    • Do not use plastic folders or binders
